Francis Shocks With 14th Fastest 200m

Miguel Francis started the 2015 season with a 200m PB of 20.60 seconds, which would be seen as quite modest on the world stage. He has now catapulted himself to number 14 on the world all-time list with an outstanding 19.76 second clocking, into a -1.1m/s headwind, at the Antigua and Barbuda National Championships last weekend.

While Francis is an Antiguan athlete, he trains a couple of islands away in Jamaica. And who does he train with in Jamaica? None other than coach Glen Mills, and his stable of superstars which is of course headed by Usain Bolt. Perhaps if Bolt isn’t quite ready to challenge Justin Gatlin in Beijing it’ll be another of Mills’ charges who will step up to the challenge. Gatlin is the only man ahead of Francis on this year’s 200m world list after his 19.57 second performance at the US championships.

Check out the rave video below to see Francis win by an absolute street, with the second place athlete over 1.5 seconds behind, clocking 21.38 seconds.
