Throwback Thursday Tailteann Games: 800m Boys Video

Ok so a relatively short throw back to Friday the 19th of June but all in all, a smashing race.

See what happens when you put the Junior Boys Record Holder in Mark Milner, the Intermediate Boys Champion in Kevin McGrath and 11 other athletes who want to make their mark on proceeding and all of whom run between 1.54 and 2.03?

You get what Cathal Dennehy would call a Destruction Derby, with athletes throwing shapes, runners out in lane four and above all, a cagey 60 second opening lap.

Kevin McGrath eventually turns the afterburners on and knocks out a 40 second last 300m.

The Boy’s got the wheels.

He is regarded as our expert on the American running scene, though has yet, to prove his knowledge in this realm.
