Makhloufi Becomes One Of The 1000m Greats

Olympic 1500m champion, Taoufik Makhloufi, has set down a pretty decent marker before next month’s world championships in Beijing. Makhloufi moved to number four on the 1000m all-time list when winning in Nancy, France last night (Wednesday) in a time of 2:13.08. The fastest time over 1000m since 1999, he is bested only by middle-distance legends Noah Ngeny, Seb Coe, and Steve Cram. Watch the race for yourself below.

His 200 splits looked to be: 26.8, 26.0, (52.8), 27.2, (1:19.0), 27.3 (1:46.3), 26.7
