A Week to Remember: The Road to Maynooth

This week, we had the full team back in the studio to cast our ever-critical, occasionally cynical eyes on a range of subjects, from last weekend’s Remembrance Run, where Brendan O’Neill and Fionnuala Britton took the titles, to the upcoming Intervarsity Road Relay Championships.

We preview one of the most underrated events in the Irish athletics calendar, and explain why you should get to Maynooth this Saturday, and who you can expect to see winning if you make it there.

Once again, doping was in the news internationally, and we discuss what constitutes good testing procedures, why the problems in Kenya could be about to get a lot worse, and why the IAAF are caught in a catch-22 when it comes to honouring the greats of the sport.

Finally, our NCAA expert puts his prediction hat on and tells you who’ll come home in front at the upcoming big dance, and where the Irish interest will be.

Con Houlihan once told me that tomorrow is now. In taking on this venture I’ve started to try and put his words into action.

I worked for Con from 2007 till his passing in 2012 taking down his copy and a whole lot more. I have a Con Houlihan section which will go in to more depth on that.

I’m a long-time contributor to the Irish Runner magazine and am also working for the Irish Examiner.
