Marathon Mick tells his tale of life on the road

Mick Clohisey made his marathon debut in Rotterdam on April 12th in a stellar 2:17:42. In our interview with Mick he tells us how he went off the beaten track for a number of years and travelled around America before meeting his girlfriend and finding the love for running once more. The Claw as he is affectionately known goes through his preparation for Rotterdam and how the race went along with his aspirations to make the Olympic team with Berlin his target in the Autumn.

Key sessions, favourite music and advice for keeping on the road all in this interview which has formed a special feature piece for the next issue of the Irish Runner which will be out soon. Whet your appetite here for the wandering Raheny Shamrock hero.

Con Houlihan once told me that tomorrow is now. In taking on this venture I’ve started to try and put his words into action.

I worked for Con from 2007 till his passing in 2012 taking down his copy and a whole lot more. I have a Con Houlihan section which will go in to more depth on that.

I’m a long-time contributor to the Irish Runner magazine and am also working for the Irish Examiner.
