Podcast: Barshim set for Take off; Mo goes Mad; O Lionaird hunts history

There were plenty of talking points on this week’s podcast with Mo Farah and Andy Vernon grabbing centre stage with their Twitter spat. We look behind the feud and where it sparked and who came out on top if at all.

Sara Treacy had the performance of her career when she won the 3,000m at the Sainsbury’s British Indoor Championships taking some notable scalps and we recap her wonderful performance. She will be back in Birmingham this weekend for the Indoor Grand Prix where she will be aiming to make the European Indoor qualifying time.

Athlone will be where all the action is this week with the AIT international and then the GloHealth National Indoor Championships. The first sub 4 minute indoor mile on Irish soil is on the cards and we caught up with the the two main protagonists on the race card, Ciarán Ó Lionáird and Ben Blankenship, for a wide ranging interview (15:49 into the pocast).

The pair have spent an enormous amount of time together of late altitude training in Flagstaff, Arizona and then racing on the indoor circuit. They give us insights into their camp and how they coped with each others company for that long. They then delve into master miler Nick Willis, the pressures of being a miler in America and much more.

Tune in for an action packed podcast.
