Gillick Wants Russian Ban, 800m Champion Joins OTC; Your JTG 5-A-Day

1. Aman To The OTC

Three-time world champion, Mohammed Aman has joined the Oregon Track Club Elite. Aman is the reigning outdoor 800m champion from Moscow 2013, as well as 2012 & 2014 indoor champion, and feels the switch to Mark Rowland in TrackTown USA will help him retain these titles.

2. Bikila’s Barefoot Legacy

The family of barefoot Olympic champion Adebe Bikila is suing Vibram, the minimalist running shoe company, for using his name without their permission. The Ethiopian famously won the Rome 1960 Olympic marathon in his bare feet running an Olympic record in the process.

3. Gillick Calls For Russian Ban

Ireland’s 400m National Record holder has said that it’s more than just medals that Russian dopers have robbed from Irish athletes. Gillick believes the Russians should be banned from competing unless they can definitively prove their athletes are clean.

4. Bolt Back To Paris

“The most relaxed athlete in world” as Larry Eder of RunBlogRun described after an interview yesterday, Usain Bolt has been confirmed for the 100m at he Paris Diamond League on July 4th. He also said he would like to challenge the 300m world record if the race is held in Ostrava this season.

5. The Next Mo Farah?
Abel Tsegay is an 18 year old Eritrean now living in Britain, who hopes to emulate Mo Farah and take the distance running world by storm. The Invicta East Kent AC athlete finished first in the European Cross-Country trials in Liverpool (running the 6.7km in a time of 20min 31sec) but is ineligible to represent Team GB as of yet.

Gerard O'Donnell is an athlete, physical therapist, and MSc student. He is current national 110m hurdles champion and ranks 3rd & 5th on the Irish all-time list for the sprint hurdles events. He is occasionally referred to as GOD, not due to his initials, but because of his heavenly beard, which he has sported since the age of 5.
