Inside Mo’s mind; a chat with the champion

This week, we got up close and personal with a global star in Mo Farah.

The double Olympic Champion spoke to us in Birmingham about his goals for the next number of years, what effect the marathon had on him, and whether he thinks he’ll return to it in the future.

We also introduce our latest addition to the Jumping The Gun team, and ask his opinion on both Mo Farah and current events. We review all the action from Birmingham and ask why the fields Mo Farah faces on home turf are often so weak.

We preview this week’s big Diamond League meet in Zurich, and ask whether we should switch off our televisions for the men’s 100m, which features returning drug cheats Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell.

We round up by noting some of the star performers for the Irish team at the World Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

Con Houlihan once told me that tomorrow is now. In taking on this venture I’ve started to try and put his words into action.

I worked for Con from 2007 till his passing in 2012 taking down his copy and a whole lot more. I have a Con Houlihan section which will go in to more depth on that.

I’m a long-time contributor to the Irish Runner magazine and am also working for the Irish Examiner.
