Britton and Pollock eye Euro gold

Fionnuala Britton was easily the draw card at the  Woodie’s DIY National Inter County Cross Country Championships  in Santry Demesne today after she was swarmed by autograph hunters post procession run.

Paul Pollock may not have been swarmed by the autograph hunters but he was equally impressive and he now feels he has a shot at Euro individual glory.

Siofra Cleirigh Buttner and Sean Tobin swept all before them in the junior races in what was a well attended event.

Below are soundbites of post race reaction from all four winners with Ruairi Finnegan in addition to boost the much vaunted battle of UCD and DCU at the University Road Relays next week.

Also linked is the Athletics Ireland report which also has a link to the results.

Con Houlihan once told me that tomorrow is now. In taking on this venture I’ve started to try and put his words into action.

I worked for Con from 2007 till his passing in 2012 taking down his copy and a whole lot more. I have a Con Houlihan section which will go in to more depth on that.

I’m a long-time contributor to the Irish Runner magazine and am also working for the Irish Examiner.
