Fionnuala sets out on Road to Rio: Chicago Marathon Live Stream

Yeah, we get it, there’s a lot of other live sport on today, but barging its way into your schedule should be the Chicago Marathon, which gets under way at 1:30pm Irish time.

Fionnuala McCormack leads the Irish hopes against some of the world’s best, such as Kenya’s Florence Kiplagat, who has run 2:19:44 and finished second here last year. McCormack has a best of 2:31:46, run at the European Championships in Zurich last year, and she said at the press conference on Friday that she hopes to improve on that time today and secure qualification for next year’s Olympic Games.

In the men’s race, it will likely be a Kenyan who takes the title once again, with Sammy Kitwara, a 2:04:28 athlete who was runner-up here last year, the leading contender. Ethiopian duo Endeshaw Negesse and Abera Kuma will give him plenty to think about, though, as will fellow Kenyan Lucas Rotich, a winner in Hamburg earlier this year.

We know your TV is out of commission, but that’s okay, so put the kettle on and load up the laptop for an afternoon where you’ll need as many eyes as the NSA. Live Stream below courtesy of

You can live track your favourite athletes here, while full results will be available here.
