Bolt on Ellen

Usain Bolt made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show today while he was passing through L.A. and took to the car park to lose a race to an 8 year old boy. Check out the video below.

No return to Oregon for Mary Cain

Mary Cain has written a short blog in which she mentions that she won’t be returning to Oregon for training, while Alberto Salazar will remain as her coach.

“After a disappointing year, I knew that I needed a change. For me, that meant returning home to New York (and its bagels) or where it all started. With 2016 being such an important year, it’s a blessing to be able to, as my mom says, “Go back to basics.”

Gatlin Not Eligible to win athlete of the year

After the controversey that surrounded the athlete of the year nominations in 2014 (Justin Gatlin was nominated which caused Robert Harting to withdraw) the IAAF have amended the rules slightly so that former dopers cannot be nominated.

“Please note that athletes who have been previously sanctioned with a serious doping offence shall not be eligible,” read the announcement.

EXPECTING WHILE TRAINING FOR THE OLYMPICS

Sarah Brown hopes to qualify for the Rio Olympics next year, and she’ll be doing most of her base training while pregnant. The American metric miler was unable to rationalise why her form had taken such an alarming dip, until she was informed that her birth control had failed and she was in fact pregnant. Her due date is in March of 2016, just 12 weeks before the Olympic trials, but that hasn’t quelled her ambition.

Gerard O'Donnell

Gerard O'Donnell is an athlete, a coach, and a business management graduate. A former youth international, he represented Ireland in sprint hurdles, 400m hurdles, high jump and relays. He is current senior 60m & former 110m hurdles champion and ranks 3rd & 5th on the Irish all-time list for the events. Years of battling and finally overcoming injuries have led to his keen interest in strength and conditioning for athletes, as well as his current course of study: Neuromuscular Physical Therapy. He is occasionally referred to as GOD, not due to his initials, but because of his heavenly beard, which he has sported since the age of 5.
