Star’s Studded Workshop For Improving Performance And Recovery

On Sunday September 13, at the Dolmen Hotel Carlow, an array of experienced medical personnel from all over the world will partake in a day of seminars and workshops , alongside world famous athletes, in learning how to become faster and better athletes, improving in all areas of speed, agility, and strength.

The seminar will cover performing enhancing tips, optimal recovery options and injury prevention. Athletes at every level will be catered for on the day, at what is promised to be a star-studded turn out from the world of sport.

Recovering from sports injuries and preventing further injury have become Anthony “Star” Geoghegan‘s greatest area of expertise to date. His very own invention, ‘The RIP Tool” as it is known, has discovered the key to faster recovery from any sporting injury. This simple yet very effective hand tool releases connective tissue, and facilitates blood supply for faster more effective recovery from any sporting related injury.

The RIP Tool, together with Stars RIP speed board, used by the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt before defending his world title in Beijing , will ensure speed and muscle re-activation at optimum levels. The speed board will be demonstrated on the day by the world famous athletes in attendance. Among the pack of celebrity stars on the day will be medal winners and title holders Blanka Vlasic, Tori Bowie, Curtis Mitchell, Leshawn Merritt, David Oliver, Novlene Williams-Mills, Brenda Martinez and numerous other Irish athletes and GAA Stars.

The national and international stars will be accompanied by guest speakers from many different disciplines within the world of sporting performance.

  • Matt Kane, sprint coach for Adidas USA, will speak on the area of speed and agility.
  • Mario Perkovic, physiotherapist to Blanka Vlasic, will give his knowledge on injury and prevention and treatment.
  • Professor Goran Markovic, himself an expert in kinesiology, osteopathy and physiology, will address the audience. His seminar will cover his vast experience as a physical conditioning coach. Professor Markovic speaks at international scientific conferences and works closely with athletes as well as basketball players and footballers.
  • Female athletes can look forward to a thematic talk by Dr Con Murphy, MRCOG. FRCS, a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology around areas of athletics post childbirth and bladder control. Simple ways to improve performance.

2015 hurler of the year, Richie Hogan will attend on the day as well as Irish indoor record holder for the 800 metres, Mark English.

It promises to be a very informative, not to be missed event, for any athlete/sports person.

Gerard O'Donnell is an athlete, a coach, and a business management graduate. A former youth international, he represented Ireland in sprint hurdles, 400m hurdles, high jump and relays. He is current senior 60m & former 110m hurdles champion and ranks 3rd & 5th on the Irish all-time list for the events. Years of battling and finally overcoming injuries have led to his keen interest in strength and conditioning for athletes, as well as his current course of study: Neuromuscular Physical Therapy. He is occasionally referred to as GOD, not due to his initials, but because of his heavenly beard, which he has sported since the age of 5.
