Katerina Johnson Thompson fouls out after three breaks in the Long Jump. After a poor, by her standards, High Jump yesterday the wheels came off today in her favoured event. The athlete never looked right, even appearing tired and sullen before the event started.

Game over for KJT but it makes the rest of the heptathlon a procession for Ennis-Hill.

Almost a 100 point gap for Ennis-Hill going into the 800m.

Shot Put Rivalry set to sizzle

Joe Kovacs is the World Leader this year and threw 21.36 in qualifying to show his undeniable form. Can anyone discount the big German David Storl? The double World Champion threw 21.26 in qualifying to keep the pressure on.

Men’s 400m off without a hitch

No major upsets here, all the favorites getting through. Pavel Maslak crashed out while the Jamaican and Saudi Arabian records were broken in the same heat. HEAT! Both men went sub 44 for the first time.Both running 43.93,these were the fastest times ever run in any preliminary round of a World Championships and the fastest ever run in a first round at a World Championships or Olympic Games.

Ronan Duggan is an athlete, coach, athletics fan and, most importantly, was once named Bandon AFC's under-12 Player of the Year. He was once a promising athlete but is now a promising coach, teacher and part-time athletics writer/broadcaster. While an 800m runner himself, Ronan has coached everything from pole vault to 10km with varying levels of bluffing. He has regularly been threatening to do something for years but is yet to deliver. He is regarded as our expert on the American running scene, though has yet, to prove his knowledge in this realm.
