Thomas Barr goes into the World Championships ranked 11th in the world for 2015 with his National Record of 48.65 set at the Rome Diamond League earlier this summer. The 2015 season has been Barr’s best to date with 10 sub-50 second clockings, three of those being sub-49. Barr competed at three diamond league events and highlighted his summer so far by taking the title at the World University Games (video below) in July, with his second fastest time ever, 48.78 seconds.

He is occasionally referred to as GOD, not due to his initials, but because of his heavenly beard, which he has sported since the age of 5.
